During these scenarios, the data usage in our mobile will be utilized a lot. By default, the Telegram app has the Automatic Media Download option. But, to reduce mobile data usage, the app has settings to disable for specific media types or as a whole.

How To Save Mobile Data Usage in Telegram App – Android:

Step 1: Open Telegram App, then go to the Settings page and then to Data and Storage.

Step 2: Now under Automatic Media Download you have 3 options as below

  • In Private Chats
  • In Groups

Tap on each item and uncheck the type of files you don’t want to auto download. To save more data, I would recommend you to uncheck all file formats, so that you can download the file which is required, manually from the chats/channels/groups.

Step 3: You can also restrict mobile data for all file types which are not to be downloaded if it is more than a certain size and also while roaming.

To do so navigate to Advanced option under the Automatic Media download, then the below 3 options will appear

Tap on each option and choose the maximum size for each file formats and save.
