Technology has evolved a lot and QR code is everywhere now. We have started using QR codes in payment methods, business cards, product labels, resumes and in many places. Mostly, in recent days all the shops started using the scan and payment method, which is easy to pay to merchants via a bank account in a few seconds and it is cashless. You can create QR code for URL, Text, Email, Phone, SMS, vCARD, Location, Social networks, WiFi Networks, Events, Address and more.

Before we start, let’s have a quick introduction about the QR code. QR code is abbreviated from Quick Response code. It is a type of matrix barcode first designed in the year 1994 in Japan for the automotive industry. The QR code system was invented in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso Wave. QR codes became popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes.

Immediately after hearing the word, QR code, the first thing come to your mind is the black and white image with black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background. But did you know that you can add color, logo, different shapes other than square in the QR codes?

  1. Make sure that your QR code is big enough so your target audience can scan it from a considerable distance.

  3. Always make sure that your QR code has a high – resolution format and that it is sharp in both screen and printed format. It allows scanning quickly.
  4. Make sure the QR code is at least 1.2 inches ( 3 to 4 cm ) in dimension for people to be able to scan it.
  5. Make sure that the QR code you use is precisely linked to information or detail relative to your product or service.
  6. Position your QR code in the right location (eye-level), so that people can see and scan it quickly.
  7. Include your brand’s logo with the QR code to build total brand awareness.
  8. Avoid printing or having multiple QR codes at once (nearby).
  9. Add a clear call for action text in your QR code like scan to win, scan to pay. Just tell them what to expect when they scan the code.
  10. Last but not least, After generating a QR code, make sure to test your QR code with your smartphone first and see if it works fine.
