Technology has evolved a lot and most of the gadgets including smartphones, Bluetooth speakers, Power banks and more devices are already part of our daily life. We used to carry at least 2 or 3 gadgets with us while travelling every time. All the gadgets are now capable of USB charging support. While travelling most of us use the laptops to charge these devices, then charging it via the direct power. Even though USB charging is slow, it helps in many situations and it makes the devices stay for more time.
But the sad part is, we need to keep the laptop ON and the screen in the Open state to charge the devices. It will consume a lot of power and reduces the laptop battery life. So, here I came up with a small tip, which allows you to charge your gadgets, even if the laptop is in sleep mode and the screen is closed. Here is the list of steps that enables this feature in the Windows Operating system.
How To Charge USB Gadgets When Laptop is in Sleep Mode:
To enable Charging in Sleep Mode, follow the below steps.
Step 1: Open Device Manager in Your Windows PC. Below are the ways to open Device Manager.
a. Windows 10 users right-click on the start menu and select Device Manager.
b. Open Run window [Windows + R ] and type devmgmt.msc and Enter [applicable for all windows versions].
c. You can also open from Control Panel.
Step 2: Now Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. All USB ports available on the laptop will be listed here.
Step 3: Right-click on the USB port on which you want to enable charging in sleep mode and choose Properties.
Step 4: In the Properties windows, navigate to Power Management tab and Uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. By default, this option is checked to save power. By unchecking this option, your system will not turn off the USB ports when going to sleep mode.
Step 5: Click OK and close. Now the USB ports will allow charging even when the laptop is in sleep mode.
Please follow the same steps for each and every USB port, where you want to enable charging function in sleep mode. Now you can charge your smartphones and other gadgets even when your laptop is in sleep mode and also when your laptop screen is closed.
