Along with the announcement of iOS 13, Apple officially unveiled a dedicated OS for iPads called iPadOS during the WWDC 2019 event. The new iPadOS includes Slide Over and Split View (multiple apps in slide over), same app in multiple spaces, new home screen, widgets in the home screen, external drives support and lot more.
While built on the same foundation as iOS, iPad has become a truly distinct experience. With powerful apps designed for a large Multi‑Touch display. Multitasking made simple with intuitive gestures. And the ability to drag and drop a file with a fingertip. It’s always been magical. And now it’s called iPadOS.
Apple details the list of devices that will be compatible with the new iPadOS on its website. Below are the devices that support iPadOS:

- 11-inch iPad Pro
- 10.5-inch iPad Pro
- 9.7-inch iPad Pro
- iPad (7th generation)
- iPad (6th generation)
- iPad (5th generation)
- iPad mini (5th generation)
- iPad mini 4
- iPad Air (3rd generation)
- iPad Air 2
Apple has dropped support for the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3 and iPad Air.
iPadOS Release Date and Changelog:
The iPadOS developer beta is already available, the public beta will be available from July.
