Passwords are an important secret code in the online world. Passwords are used to confirm the identity of a user and secure the data which are stored and shared digitally. We have seen many data breaches in the past years and especially in 2019 we had more news related to data breaches which contain the username and passwords of the users from various online platforms.
To overcome this, many tech companies, cybersecurity persons were always guesting the online users to make their passwords more complex with the combination of letters, digits, or other symbols. According to the data from last year breaches, there were around 200 most popular passwords used by online users. From the data of 500 million passwords, the top 200 passwords were picked by the independent researchers and it was shared by the popular password manager NordPass.
The most popular passwords contain all the obvious and easy to guess number combinations (12345,111111,123321), popular female names (Nicole, Jessica, Hannah), and just strings of letters forming a horizontal or vertical line on a QWERTY keyboard (asdfghjkl, qazwsx, 1qaz2wsx, etc.). Surprisingly, the most obvious one — “password” — remains very popular; 830,846 people still use it. – NordPass
