WhatsApp has finally rolled out a long-awaited feature. Yes, WhatsApp Dark Mode is official now and available for both Android and iPhone users via a stable update which has been requested for more than years. With this update, you can manually set the dark mode or make it match with the system theme automatically.
According to the WhatsApp team, they have done a lot of research and experiments before rolling out this feature. They have concentrated more on two particular areas which are Readability and Information Hierarchy.
Readability: When choosing colors, we wanted to minimize eye fatigue and use colors that are closer to the system defaults on iPhone and Android respectively.
Information Hierarchy: We wanted to help users easily focus their attention on each screen. We did this by using color and other design elements to make sure the most important information stands out.
