WhatsApp is a messaging platform owned by Facebook which is continuously providing updates to the users to stay up to date. To specify, we have received the much-awaited Dark Mode support, a dedicated video call button for the group with 4 or fewer participants.
WhatsApp Supports 8 Participants in Group Voice and Video Calls:
In addition to the text chat, WhatsApp is offering the VoIP service with group voice calls and video calls functionality.
As of now, you can make voice and video calls up to 4 participants at once. Due to the lockdown environment globally, everybody is using video calls and internet calls to stay connected with each other. Even the companies have started using these mediums to stay connected with their workers who work from home.
Hence, due to the ongoing demand, WhatsApp is now increasing the limit of the voice and video calls. So, as per the latest beta update, you can make voice and video calls up to 8 participants at once.
The increased limit is available on the beta version Android and iOS. If you can’t wait for the stable release and want to test this new feature, you can test it by installing the beta version of the app.

Android users can get this feature by installing the 2.20.133 beta version and iOS users can get this feature by installing the 2.20.50.25 beta version from Testflight.

Also, suggesting the WhatsApp team to increase the limit up to 30 to 40 participants at a time similar to Apple’s Facetime app which supports 32 participants at a time.
Update 1: The update has started rolling out to iPhone users with WhatsApp version v2.20.50. All the participants have to be on the same version or higher in order to have the 8 person group voice or video calls.
