How To Disable Security Code Change Notification in WhatsApp

You might have seen security code change notifications in WhatsApp. Yes, It is nothing but a verification code to check whether the WhatsApp Calls and chats are encrypted. WhatsApp will be showing the security code change notifications in the chats if the feature is enabled in your account. Still, not sure about what we are discussing? Here you go.

What is the Security Code Change Notification in WhatsApp:

According to WhatsApp, each of your chats has its own security code which is a 60 digit number. This code is used to verify that your calls and the messages you send to that chat are end-to-end encrypted.

These codes are unique to each chat and can be compared between people in each chat to verify that the messages you send to the chat are end-to-end encrypted. Security codes are just visible versions of the special key shared between you – and don’t worry, it’s not the actual key itself, that’s always kept secret.

Fine, you have some idea about the Security Code, but now you wonder why this is changing often and we are notified of the change? Because sometimes it will be very annoying in the chat. Now read below ⬇ 🙂

Why Security Code Change is Happening?

The security codes used in end-to-end encryption might change. This is likely because you or your contact reinstalled WhatsApp or changed phones. Hence, whenever the code change is detected you will be notified inside the chat like below.

How To Find the Security Code of a Contact:

You can view the 60 digit security code as a number as well as QR code in the contact info screen.

  • One-to-One chats, just tap on the Person’s contact info and then navigate to Encryption.
  • If you are in group chat, then tap on the person from the group participants and choose view security code.
