WhatsApp is a cross-platform messaging app which allows their users to send/receive text and voice messages, make voice and video calls, share contents like videos, documents, locations, GIFs and more other media formats.
As mentioned above, the application is available for various platforms like Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, etc., You can access your account in Desktop with the WhatsApp Web or the WhatsApp Desktop application which can be installed. You can scan the QR code to start using your account in Desktop. After the introduction of the desktop app, many users started using it, which is easy to access and share contents when we are in work/desktop.
When comes to desktop, we make the work simple by using the shortcuts, similarly, WhatsApp Desktop app also has some shortcuts to make the work simple, instead of using the mouse and clicking again and again.

WhatsApp Desktop Shortcuts For Windows:
Start a New Chat:
Opening a new chat window is similar to most of the other applications. Yes, You can start a new chat by Pressing CTRL + N.
Create a New Group:
You can create a new group by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + N, which will open the Add participants screen when pressed. Add the participants, name it and that’s it.
Open Profile Screen:
Press CTRL + P to open the profile screen and you can edit/change the profile picture, name and about from this screen.
Mute Chat:
Choose the chat you want mute and then press CTRL + SHIFT + M, Mute popup will be open, choose the time you want mute and click MUTE NOTIFICATIONS.
Change Read Status [Unread/Read]:
You can mark the read status of the currently opened chat to Unread by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + U. Press the same keys to mark the unread chat as read.
Navigate Between Chats:
Navigate between previous and next chats by using the below shortcuts.
CTRL + SHIFT + ] – Next Chat
 CTRL + SHIFT + [ – Previous Chat
Archive Chat:
CTRl + E helps to archive the current chat.
Search:
CTRL + F focus on search, you can type a keyword to start searching for your chats.
Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All:
Cut, Copy, Paste and Select All works similar to the other apps in windows with the same shortcuts.
CTRL + Z – Undo
 CTRL + SHIFT + Z – Redo
 CTRL + X – Cut
 CTRL + C – Copy
 CTRL + V – Paste
 CTRL + A – Select All
Focus Emoji Button:
Press TAB key thrice or SHIFT + TAB key to focus on Emoji Button.
Add Emoji with Colon:
WhatsApp allows you to quickly search and add emoji’s to your chat using the colon shortcuts. From the WhatsApp Desktop App for Windows, open a chat and type colon : followed by the keywords will show you the desired smileys to choose.
For example typing :fire will display the list of emoji’s related to fire, you no need to enter the complete keyword, the emoji will start showing after entering two characters itself.
Text Formatting:
You might have seen some of the texts in WhatsApp with formatting like Bold, italicize, strikethrough, font change, etc.,
You can also send the text like that by adding some special characters to the text.
Make Text Bold – Enter the text between asterisks.
Example: *AU TechTips*
Make Text Italicize – Enter the text between underscores.
Example: _AU TechTips_
Strikethrough – Enter the text between tilt.
Example: ~AU TechTips~
Change Font – Enter the text between three backticks.
Example: ```AU TechTips```
Status Next and Previous:
You can move between the next and previous status of the same person as well as the next person by using the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys.
Close WhatsApp Desktop App:
